Eligibility
Each type of insurance has its own conditions for acceptance. Here is what insurers typically look at, so you know what to expect before you apply.
Eligibility is about one question: can the insurer understand and price your risk?
Insurers accept applications when they have enough reliable information to assess the risk. That usually means confirming your identity and residence, the details of what is being insured, and any history that affects the likelihood of a claim.
Being declined for one policy rarely means you cannot be insured at all. Different insurers have different criteria, and cover can often be offered with conditions, an exclusion, or an adjusted premium.
What insurers typically assess.
| Product | Who can apply | What is assessed |
|---|---|---|
| Life insurance | Adults within the insurer's age limits | Age, health, lifestyle, occupation, and the sum insured requested |
| Health insurance | UAE residents and their dependants | Age, medical history, and the emirate that issued the residence visa |
| Vehicle insurance | Registered owners with a valid UAE driving licence | Vehicle value and age, driver age and experience, and claims history |
| Home insurance | Owners and tenants of residential property | Property type, construction, location, security, and sums insured |
| Business insurance | Licensed businesses | Trade activities, premises, turnover, staff numbers, and loss history |
| Travel insurance | Residents travelling from the UAE | Destination, trip length, age, and declared medical conditions |
| Property insurance | Owners, developers, and managers of property | Construction, occupancy, fire protection, and reinstatement value |
Age limits and acceptance criteria are set by each insurer and vary between plans. We confirm the criteria for the specific plans we recommend.

I have a medical condition. Can I still get cover?
Often yes. Depending on the condition and the product, cover may be offered in full, with an exclusion, after a waiting period, or at an adjusted premium. Always disclose it.
Can non-residents buy insurance through you?
Most of the policies we arrange are for UAE residents and UAE-based assets. Ask us about your circumstances and we will tell you what is possible.
What if I have been declined before?
Tell us why. Another insurer may view the risk differently, or we can help you provide the information that was missing.
Do businesses need to be licensed to be insured?
Yes. Insurers require a valid trade licence and will usually insure only the activities listed on it.
